Plot

The film tells the story of a person who refused to compromise with evil and remained true to their principles, ideals, and conscience.

The plot unfolds in 1939, following the Soviet invasion of Poland.

At its center is a protracted psychological duel between a Polish pianist, imprisoned alongside hundreds of compatriots, and an NKVD agent attempting to break his will and thereby influence others. The director of «Gorky Sanatorium» is Lukasz Palkowski, who directed one of Poland's highest-grossing films, «Gods». The film's protagonist, Karol Grabowski, is portrayed by the popular Polish actor Jakub Gierszal. His antagonist, the NKVD agent, is played by Irish actor Aidan Gillen, best known for his role as Petyr Baelish in the legendary series «Game of Thrones». Among Ukrainian actors, viewers will see Viktor Zhdanov, Hryhoriy Horobchuk, Daria Polunina, and Artem Manuylov in the film. The cast also includes British actor Paul Freeman, Mateusz Kościukiewicz, who played the main antagonist in the Ukrainian adventure epic «Dovbush», Boguslaw Linda, Antoni Pawlicki, and others. The costume designer for the film is Ukrainian artist Gala Otenko. The Ukrainian producer is Serhiy Lavrenyuk.
