Plot
The feature-length debut of Irish directors Tomm Moore and Nora Twomey and the Cartoon Saloon studio, five-time Academy Award nominee.
The 9th century, Ireland is experiencing the Viking invasion, which is destroying local monasteries. Miraculously, an old monk working on writing a sacred book survives from one of them. He finds refuge in the Abbey of Kells, where 12-year-old Brendan lives with his uncle. While the monks prepare for the inevitable enemy attack, the boy, enchanted by the book, seeks to help complete it. However, to do so, he must embark on dangerous adventures.
