Plot

The unconventional story of the transformation of performer Merrill Nisker, better known as Peaches, from a music teacher to an icon of electroclash with a loud queer-feminist voice. In her work, she subverts social norms, breaks down gender stereotypes, and fights against patriarchal prejudices. Peaches defends the rights of the LGBTQIA+ community and raises questions about sexual identity.

The landmark album The Teaches of Peaches was released in 2000, after the singer was diagnosed with cancer and decided to move from Canada to Berlin to start over. The bold, sex-positive and feminist statements of the record were something radically new for the music culture of the 2000s, and Peaches influenced a whole generation of young artists. The documentary was originally intended to capture the filming of Peaches' anniversary tour of The Teaches of Peaches in 2022. However, the filmmakers gained access to nearly 7,000 hours of Peaches' archival material, which allowed them to explore the dynamic path of the performer, as well as the history of electroclash and the Berlin music scene of the 2000s.
